New Alan Jackson release

Alan Jackson's new album , "Like Red On A Rose" is released in the Uk on Monday October 2nd. This album is produced by Alison Krauss, and sounds very much like her sound. Alan fans may be in for a shock, as there's no lightweight "Chattahoochie" or Tall Tall Trees" type songs here.

 

Foster & Allen

Long time Irish favourites, Foster & Allen are teaming up with Radio 2 for a Children In Need "Bid For The Gig", where the laid back duo will entertain in your home or chosen venue. The auction takes place during the week of 13-17th November.
In the meantime, catch them at Perth Concert Hall on Nov 9th, or Motherwell Concert Hall on the 10th.
They also have a new double album, "At The Movies" in stores from November 6th.

October dates

There's "Another Chance To Dance" for Wee Country folks, when Gerry Ford visits the Prairie Star CWC in Alloa on Satuday, October 7th.
The previous evening, Southern Boulevard are guests at The San Quentin CWC in Maddison, near Falkirk.
Also coming up is a visit by Charlie Landsborough to Stirling's Albert Halls, on the 11th, and Dominic Kirwan returns to Falkirk Town Hall on Oct 24.

 

Willie Nelson in drugs raid

Willie Nelson and four members of his touring entourage are facing charges for possession of marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms after his tour bus was stopped in Louisiana earlier this week. Nelson was headed to Texas following a Sunday night show with Ray Price in Montgomery, Ala. Nelson's 2005 Prevost bus was stopped on Interstate 10 for a commercial vehicle inspection. In a press release, police said, "When the door was opened and the trooper began to speak to the driver, he smelled the strong odor of marijuana in the bus." Police confiscated 1.5 pounds of marijuana and 0.2 pound of mushrooms.

Scot wins at Canadian awards

The Canadian Country Music Awards showcased some of Canada’s biggest country stars at Harbour Station in Saint John,New Brunswick , and Scots born Johnny Reid topped off a great weekend, by not only collecting the Chevy Trucks Rising Star Award in front of a nationwide TV audience, but also a 2007 truck, courtesy of the presenting sponsor.
Earlier in the weekend, the Scots born singer songwriter, who has named his fan club, The Tartan Army, won two independent label awards for Top Male Vocalist & Single of the Year for “Missing an Angel”.

Other winners included George Canyon and Carolyn Dawn Johnson who collected trophies for Male and Female Artist of the Year, respectively, with George also picking up the award for Single of the Year for “Somebody Wrote Love”.
Alberta based Corb Lund , who toured here earlier in the year, won the Album of the Year Award, as well as the Roots Artist of theYear.
The Fans’ Choice Award, voted on by fans, was won by Terri Clark, for the sixth time.
