Kasey Chambers dominates Golden Guitars
Kasey Chambers and husband Shane Nicholson dominated Australia's Golden Guitars presented in Tamworth today. The duo's "Rattlin' Bones" won them Album, Song, Single, Video, and Top Selling Album awards.
Other winners included Catherine Britt (Female), Adam Brand (male), The McClymonts (Group), John Williamson (Bush Ballad) and Melinda Schneider & Paul Kirby for Vocal Collaboration for "Still Here".
The awards were broadcast live around the globe on Radio Australia, and Celtic Music Radio (1530 AM in Glasgow and online at www.celticmusicradio.net) will have an Australia Day special Sunday Jan 25th between 2-5pm, when it'll already be Australia Day down under.

The Wayne Stewart Duo play for The San Quentin club on Friday 6th, with Blackstone River playing for the Prairie Star in Alloa the following night.
Kevin Costner - Country star
Oscar winning actor Kevin Costner is branching out, with a Country album, to be released in the UK by Blue Wrasse Records on February 23rd.
Sugarland Glasgow bound
American Country music's hottest duo, Sugarland have a short tour in March, which will take in Glasgow's Academy on March 18th. Their album "Love On The Inside" is released here on Humphead.
Irish Festival moves indoors
Last year's UTV Country Festival in Dungannon was voted an overwhelming success, escept for the weather. This year's event, on 1st & 2nd August will be held in Belfast's Kings Hall.
Randy Travis and Ray Price headline alongside Joe Diffie, Connie Smith,John Conlee, Hal Ketchum and all the biggest Irish acts.

Arne Benoni in hospital
Borwegian singer has been struggling with back problems and pain for many years. His main condition is called “Spinal stenosis” and the operation is not risk free even by today’s standards. (They’ve turned him down twice through the years)
Anyway, the skills and instruments are getting better day by day, so now that they feel they can do it,and Arne is currently in the Martina Hansens Hospital in Oslo.

Jackie Nelson RIP
Warm tributes have been paid to leading Northern Ireland country and easy-listening singer Jackie Nelson, who died last week in hospital after suffering an illness, aged 62.
Jackie from Co Down, was one of the best known personalities on the Irish cabaret scene and over a 40-year singing career he recorded a number of popular albums.
In years gone by, he regulary worked Central Scotland for Alloa based Forefront promotions.
Probably his best known song was the Christmas hit, "Walking Talking Dolly"
Last month he was to have launched his latest DVD album Memories of Ireland in Newcastle but the show was cancelled due to his illness.

2008 in Review
It must be the most uneventful year in Country music history! Taylor Swift, the keen teen who became America's sweetheart sold more records and graced more magazine covers than anyone else in the hillbilly business. Kenny Chesney, who doesn't sell outside the US, packed stadiums to overflowing and continuing to win the top entertainer awards from both the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association.
Shania Twain split from husband Mutt Lange; Mindy McCready, spent 60 days in prison, then apparently attempted suicide; John Rich, Sugarland, Mark Herndon and Natalie Maines got sued; and Billy Joe Shaver and Kid Rock got busted. Chris Cagle and his girlfriend are jailed on domestic assault charges.
Sadder still, country music lost some of its finest voices and fiercest advocates, including John Stewart, Charlie Walker, Leo Jackson, Danny Davis, Paul Davis, Danny Dill,Chris Gaffney (Hacienda Brothers), Don Helms,Reg Lindsay, Bobby Lord, Ken Nelson,Odetta Holmes, Dottie Rambo, Jerry Reed, Nick Reynolds, (founding member of the Kingston Trio),Artie Traum, and Jerry Wallace.
This past week, Delaney Bramlett, 69, singer, songwriter, record producer and a founding member of Delaney & Bonnie & Friends, Dec. 27, in Los Angeles, of complications from gallbladder surgery.
And finally, Eddy Arnold, 89, trailblazing crossover crooner and member of the Country Music Hall of Fame,died May 8, near Nashville.
The late star's single, "To Life," charts in Billboard just days after his death, making him one of the few artists to have charted a record in seven consecutive decades and giving him a grand total of 147 singles charted. ...
Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" becomes first country song to earn double-platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for generating 2 million digital downloads. Then in May, she joined the Grand Ole Opry, once the home of singers that could honestly be called legends. Later in the year, she was joined by Craig Morgan, the Opry's youngest member.
Ernest V. Stoneman, Tom T. Hall, The Statler Brothers and Emmylou Harris are inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
In bluegrass, Dailey & Vincent win seven International Bluegrass Music Awards, including entertainer of the year. ...
But still, everyone wanted into Country music. Actress Jessica Simpson, R&B singer Jewel, and Dancing With The Stars dancer Julianne Hough all made Country music albums. Even President George W. Bush treats the annual Gridiron Dinner crowd to a self-mocking parody of "Green, Green Grass of Home".
