New album, tour for Kirwan

Popular Irish singer, Dominic Kirwan releases a new album, "My Kinda Country" in early October, and will be have it available at his dates in Hamilton (Oct 8th), Kilmarnock (9th) and Falkirk (10th)

 

Tennessee 3 keep Cash music alive

Bob Wooton, a long time member of Johnny Cash's Tennessee 3 is heading to Scotland in October for dates in Dumfries (23rd), Glasgow (24th), Inverness (27th), Aberdeen (28th) and Dundee (29th). The Glasgow date is at The Renfrew Ferry.

 

Prairie Star welcome Wayne Stuart

Wayne Stuart Duo return to Alloa's Weis Club on Saturday October 3rd, as guests of the Prairie star C&W Club.

 

Isla on tour

Singer songwriter Isla Grant embarks on her latest Uk tour, woth Scottish dates as follows:

Isla's new album. "Movin' On" will be released by Rpsette Records in early 2010.

Award for OneDay40

Colt Records (Nashville) recording artists OneDay40 were recognised on Saturday 19th September at the British Country Music Awards with Best Album for their debut "Unfinished Business". Voted by a panel of music industry veterans, the award was presented to the founders of the band during the annual induction ceremony for the British Country Music Hall of Fame at Great Birchwood in England.
During the ceremony the band offered 100 free copies of their album to the assembled audience - an offer which caused a rush to the stage and a very long queue for autographs - organisers of the event later observing that they'd never seen a box of CDs empty so quickly.

 

Hot Country launch

The most exciting TV event for Country fans in Europe since CMT is the launch of 'Hot Country', presented by Zena, featuring Irish, UK and American country music , which will start Monday next on Sky 279 and Freesat 403 'Rural TV'.
The first show features Mike Denver, Robert Mizzell, Daniel O'Donnell, Paddy O'Brien, Jimmy Buckley, Margo with
special feature on country legends Big Tom and The Mainliners. There is also a great viewers competition for a weekend in Blackpool UK for 2 people.
Transmission times: Mondays at 4pm and 10pm, Tuesday 2am and 10am, Sat 2pm and Sunday 8pm.
Rural TV goes into 11 million homes in Ireland and The UK and a further 6 million throughout Europe as well as on the internet.

Sean O Farrell tour update- two dates cancelled

Sean O'Farrell is back on tour early next month, but has cancelled two dates in Alloa & Lochgelly. Dates still remaining include.

10th Royal Concert Hall. Glasgow.
11th Ryan Centre. Stranraer.
Sean joins Stewart Fenwick on this weeks Celtic Country on Celtic Music Radio(1530 AM in Glasgow) and online at www.celticmusicradio.net. Sunday 2-5pm, to talk about the tour and his new album, "Think Of Me".

 

International Ambassadors named

The International Country Music Day Organization has named The AristoMedia Group President Jeff Walker and singer, songwriter and producer Gail Davies as the 2009 International Country Music Ambassadors.
Jeff Walker is the president of The AristoMedia Group, a Nashville-based company that offers a full range of marketing services to the Music Industry.He moved to the United States from Sydney, Australia in 1974. He currently serves on the Country Music Association, Country Radio Broadcasters and The Recording Academy (NARAS) and is a past Board member of the Canadian Country Music Association and the Australian based Contemporary Country Music Coalition.
Gail Davies is often cited as the first female record producer in country music and has enjoyed a prolific and successful career as both an artist and a producer.
Two extensive interviews with this year's International Country Music Ambassadors will be published on the website of the International Country Music Day Organization, www.icmday.org, this week.
The International Country Music Day is held on September 17 every year, commemorating the birth of Hank Williams.
The International Country Music Day was created in 2003 by the Country Music Association of Spain in order to bring together all artists, musicians, and country music fans all over the world, as well as to promote music worldwide. Since then, many associations have embraced it and joined this non profit organization, including country2.com (Argentina), Country CD (France - fomerly FACM), the Country Music Association of Uruguay (AMCU), the Country Music Association of Greece and numerous artists, groups, radio stations, websites, and fans throughout the world.

JOHNNY REID SCORES FIVE FOR TARTAN ARMY

Johnny Reid, the Lanark born singer, took home no less that five awards at this year’s Canadian Country Music Awards , presented in Vancouver last night. His wins included including Album of the year for his CD "Dance With Me",the fan voted Entertainer Of The Year Award, Male artist of the year, video of the year and songwriter of the year for "A Woman Like You."
Other winners included Doc Walker, last year's big winner, who won again in the group of the year category; Crystal Shawanda collected female vocalist of the year;
Newfoundland starlet Tara Oram, won the rising star award ; Dean Brody, who grew up in tiny Jaffray, B.C., took home single of the year for his track, "Brothers" and Corb Lund and his Hurtin' Albertans took the award for roots artist or group of the year.
