Ceol Country starts this week

A new series of BBC Alba's "Ceol Country" starts this Tuesday, October 20th, repeated the following Sunday. The first three programmes in the series features acts performing at this year's Caithness Country Music Festival. Look out for artists such as Michelle Wright, Billy Yates, Becky Hobbs, The Jacks, and Sunny Books on the first programme.
The next three programmes come from the Creetown Country Music Festival.
"Ceol Country" is a 9pm Tuesdays & Sundays, on BBC Alba, Channell 168 on Sky.

Garth comes out of retirement for Vegas

Garth Brooks will come out of retirement with a solo acoustic show to begin Dec. 11 at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas. The five-year deal calls for Brooks to perform only during specific weeks each year to be announced on a quarterly basis. Tickets are priced at $125 and will go on sale Oct. 24 for the first five weekends. The specific dates are Dec. 11-13, Jan. 1-3 and 22-24 and Feb. 12-14 and 26-28.
Brooks has only played a handful of concerts since retiring in 2001.

Deanna weds

Deana Carter, famed for her smash No. 1 hit, "Strawberry Wine," married Brandon Malone on the beach in Malibu, Calif., Saturday, Oct. 3.
Deana, 43, and Brandon held the ceremony in Leo Carrillo State Beach in Malibu, in front of family, friends, members of the music industry and fellow artists, including pop star Deborah Gibson. The newlyweds are spending their honeymoon driving through the state of California and camping out. Cliff & The Bellamys

The Bellamy Brothers will release The Anthology, Volume 1 on Nov. 23, a collection that features 13 No. 1 hits and several new songs, including a duet with legendary artist Sir Cliff Richard.
The single-disc set, produced by brothers Howard and David and released on Bellamy Brothers Records, is a career-spanning collection of songs from their prolific 35-year career, including hits such as "Let Your Love Flow," "Old Hippie," "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me)," "Kids of the Baby Boom" and "For All the Wrong Reasons." The duet with Richard, "I Could Be Persuaded," is a new collaboration with the famed British singer-songwriter.
The Brothers biography is due for release next year.

Rerun at Bluegrass awards

The 20th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards were held Thursday night at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee Dailey & Vincent were the big awards winners, whilst Dale Ann Bradley took home best female vocalist , as last year.
Dan Tyminski took the male vocalist awards.
A favorite is always the Emerging Artist of the Year award which the SteelDrivers were honored with. This new sound in bluegrass music puts the blues and sould back into the music. The SteelDrivers have a unique sound so this was an exciting award to see being given.
“Don't Throw Mama's Flowers Away,” Danny Paisley & The Southern Grass (artist), Chris Stuart & Ivan Rosenberg (writers) received Song of the Year, another top award.
