Janey Kirk TV show

Janie Kirk's TV show goes on air on March 24th at 9.30!..pm on Irish TV (Sky 191/Freesat 400) , The he first show features special guest Lena Martell,  Soul Nation ( Chris Judge ) and George Ingles.
Meanwhile the next recording of the show takes place on March 17th and  we Janey is looking for people to take part again , to attend the Village Theatre, East Kilbride,  and be a part of the live audience. They need you all day if you can. starts 9.30 in the morning till around 8 evening.

Meeting Place

This month's Acoustic Night at The Meeting Place in Rutherglen is held on Friday February 27th at Stonelaw Church. Performing will be the two bands who performed live in session on Celtic Music Radio's Celtic Country programme durin g Celtic Connections - The John Hinshelwood Band, and The Mairs Family Band.

 

Ameripolitan Awards for Caithness stars

The Ameripolitan Music Awards presented last night in Austin, Texas, honour "music with prominent roots influence".
Amongst the winners were Northern Nashville Caithness Country Festival headliners Amber Digby (Honky Tonk Female) The Derailers (Honky Tonk Band) and former Caithness visitor Bobby Flores (Western Swing Male).

Comrie welcomes Raintown

Glasgow Country duo, Raintown take a break from recording their new album, to play Comrie, Perthshire on saturday February 21st, at the White Church Community Centre.
Meanwhile the duo host their first StageIt online gig Sunday, Feb 22nd 7.15-7.45. Playing from their own living room, right into yours, they'll play bamd favourites and tasters from their forthcoming album.  You pay what you want to watch it live.

Vincent still Bluegrass queen

As The Grammy's were going out, Rhonda Vincent was amassing her own awards haul at the at the National Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) Awards in Nashville,
 Rhonda Vincent & The Rage picked up 8 awards, including Entertainer of the Year , Female Vocalist and Bluegrass Band of the Year. 
Band members Hunter Berry and Josh Williams won for Fiddle & Guitar playing ,with three additional awards  in commemoration of band members years of service, and a special award honouring their agent Herb Sandker of Upper Management for their record breaking tour schedule.
The Rage performed a stellar set with Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Member Mac Wiseman , then
Martha White presented Rhonda Vincent & The Rage to close out the 2015 National SPBGMA Awards.

 

Rosanne shines at The Grammy's

Although Miranda Lambert won The Country album of the year award at last weekend's Grammy's, it was Rosanne Cash who took away no less than three trophies, winning American Roots Performance and Roots Song of the Year for "A Feather's Not a Bird", and Best Americana album for "The River And The Thread".
Other winners include Carrie Underwood as Best Country Solo performance for "Something In The Water", The Band Perry,(duo)and Glen Campbell for best Country Song for "I'm Not Going To Miss You". The Earls Of Leicester won top Bluegrass Album, and The Old Crow Medicine Show won Top Folk Album.
Cajun king Joel Sonnier won Best Regional roots Music Album,
