Lisa McHugh DVD recording
Glasgow born Irish Country singer, Lisa McHugh, will record a live concert performance for her very first DVD production. This unique occasion will showcase one of Ireland’s most popular entertainers in a spectacular, lavish show and will be taking place at the Marketplace Theatre, Armagh.
Lisa will include music from her four previous albums, including her most recent, ‘Wildfire’, which entered the top ten in the official Irish charts last year upon its release.
The ‘Female Artist of the Year’ at this years ICMAs is no stranger to the camera and has even recorded two seasons of her own TV show: ‘On The Road With Lisa’, which has aired on Irish TV, and proved tremendously popular nationwide. However, she still feels nervous about this next step as an Irish Country performer, ‘I’m excited but no matter how many times you get on stage there’s always some nerves, never mind with the camera rolling! I can’t wait though, it will be amazing and the Marketplace Theatre is the perfect setting!’
With a huge amount of talent, charisma and charm, this show will prove to be an unforgettable, exhilarating night. To be in the audience of Lisa’s live DVD recording in the Marketplace Theatre, Armagh on Friday 9th September, ticket are on sale now online or by calling box office on 028 3752 1821.

Prairie Star night cancelled
Bad news for everyone this week's Prairie Star C&W Club show on 2nd July has had to be cancelled due to the ceiling in the foyer of Weir soc & Rec Club, having fallen in, making it a no-go area for getting to the toilets etc. Dorothy has tried to get a suitable venue over the past few days but not possible, and a big thankyou to those who have helped. Its only the 2nd time in over 40 years that Dorothy has had to do this, so please pass the word on to all members and friends that you know might be coming along on Saturday, and all being well, will see you all on 6th August with 'Tin Star'.
Fringe Americana
The Edinburgh Festivals will soon be with us once again, and award-winning singer/songwriter, Colin Clyne for an evening of story & song on 20th August at St Brides Acoustic Music Centre.
Doricana
A new Americana music festival, “Doricana Fest”, will take place at the Stonehaven Town Hall on October 8, 2016 from 4pm, jointly spearheaded by local award winning Americana Singer/Songwriter Colin Clyne and Almost Blue Promotions
The one day (family) festival will feature 6 Scottish bands with Americana roots including

Austin songbird Barbara on tour
Georgia born, Austin Texas based Barbara Nesbitt is currently on a UK tour in support of her !Almost Home" CD. She'll round off the tour with two house concerts in Perth, a free concert at The Allan Water Brewhouse in Bridge Of Allan on Friday July 15th, and The Craigrossie Hotel, Auchterarder on Saturday 16th July.

Bluegrass world mourns Ralph stanley's passing
Ralph Stanley, a patriarch of Appalachian music who with his brother Carter helped expand and popularize the genre that became known as bluegrass, died Thursday from difficulties with skin cancer. He was 89.
Stanley was born and raised in southwest Virginia, a land of coal mines and deep forests where he and his brother formed the Stanley Brothers and their Clinch Mountain Boys in 1946. Their father would sing them old traditional songs like "Man of Constant Sorrow," while their mother, a banjo player, taught them the old-time clawhammer style, in which the player's fingers strike downward at the strings in a rhythmic style.
Heavily influenced by Grand Ole Opry star Bill Monroe, the brothers fused Monroe's rapid rhythms with the mountain folk songs from groups such as the Carter Family, who hailed from this same rocky corner of Virginia.
The Stanleys created a distinctive three-part harmony that combined the lead vocal of Carter with Ralph's tenor and an even higher part sung by bandmate Pee Wee Lambert. Carter's romantic songwriting professed a deep passion for the rural landscape, but also reflected on lonesomeness and personal losses.
The brothers were swept into the burgeoning folk movement and they toured the country playing folk and bluegrass festivals during the '60s, including the Newport Folk Festival in 1959 and 1964.
But when Carter died of liver disease in 1966,
After Carter's death, Ralph drew even deeper from his Appalachian roots, adopting the a cappella singing style of the Primitive Baptist church where he was raised. He reformed the Clinch Mountain Boys band to include Ray Cline, vocalist Larry Sparks and Melvin Goins. He would change the lineup of the band over the years, later including Jack Cooke, and mentored younger artists like Keith Whitley and Ricky Skaggs, who also performed with him.
He was given an honorary doctorate of music from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee, in 1976, and he was often introduced as "Dr. Ralph Stanley." He performed at the inaugurations of U.S. Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, was given a "Living Legends" medal from the Library of Congress and a National Medal of Arts presented by the National Endowment for the Arts and President George W. Bush. He became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 2000.

Ward Thomas tour to promote Sony album
22 year old twin sisters Lizzy and Catherine, known together as Ward Thomas, announce a run of sixteen UK tour dates this autumn, including a show at Glasgow's Oran Mor on Wednesday 10th October. The pair recently premiered their new single ‘Carry You Home’ on Radio 2 from their forthcoming album ‘Cartwheels’ released on Sony Music/WTW Music on September 9th.
‘Cartwheels’ features 14 self-penned songs that capture a range of emotions, from joy to heartbreak and everywhere in between. Inspired by a childhood listening to their parents’ Fleetwood Mac and Beatles records and more recently Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgraves, ‘Cartwheels’ is a stunning follow up to their debut album, 2014’s ‘From Where We Stand’.

Tragedy loss for Loretta
American music icon, Loretta Lynn is mourning the passing of her eldest grandson, Jeffrey Allen Lynn who died unexpectedly on Monday. Jeffrey was 47 and lived and worked on Loretta Lynn's ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Jeffrey was the eldest son of Jack Benny Lynn, Lynn's second child and eldest son who tragically drowned in 1984. Jeffrey Allen Lynn is survived by three children, Jory, Katie and Cody.
